Charisma Magazine, one of the world’s leading Christian publications, recently celebrated their 30 year anniversary as a ministry. To commemorate this milestone they published a 30 year anniversary edition in August 2005. In this special edition they have capture highlights from the past 30 years of charismatic history in America as well as sharing about the roots of the moving of the Holy Spirit in our nation. It is a powerful edition on the Holy Spirit where they expound on who the Holy Spirit is, why we need His power and how we can experience His presence today.
Not only does Charisma celebrate our past but they also cast vision for the future. Included in this edition is the article 30 Emerging Voices where they choose 30 young Christian leaders, all 40 or younger, who represent the future of the American church. We are honored and humbled as a ministry to have been included in this listing along with several of our close ministry associates and friends including Todd Bentley, Jason Upton, Robert Stearns, and Jeremy Del Rio of NYC. Many other great ministries have also been included in this listing including Matthew Barnett of the Dream Center in Los Angeles, CA, Rory and Wendy Alec of God TV in Europe, Nicole Mullen, a Christian recording artist, and David Cunningham, son of Youth With a Mission founder Loren Cunningham.
In 30 Emerging Voices Lee Grady of Charisma states “When Charisma was first published in 1975, some of the leaders profiled on these pages were not even born. Yet today they are steering the church into new territory, armed with the courage and creativity needed to make the gospel relevant to their generation. They represent a new breed. We believe the church has never seen a more gifted group of men and women step forward to carry the torch into the future.” (Charisma, August 2005, page 81)
For all of our friends and partners, here is an excerpt profiling Matt Sorger as part of this new breed:
“Revivalists typically don’t come from New York-at least not since the days of Charles Finney. But Sorger is an exception. A product of Zion Bible College in Rhode Island, he served as a coordinator for The Call NYC, a massive prayer gathering held in the state in 2002. As an itinerant preacher-with a proven track record of miracles-he raises hopes that the Holy Spirit is thawing one of the most spiritually bleak regions of the country. Says his mentor, revivalist Lou Engle: “Matt carries the heartbeat of God for this generation. He possesses a deep passion for the Lord and a hunger for true revival.” (Charisma, August 2005, page 95)
Thank you partners for helping us spread the love and power of Jesus Christ around the world!
